Sometimes You Need a Good Nite Lite

If you live in the upper latitudes, you’ll know that daylight is a fleeting thing, and its hours are constantly changing.  This is confusing to a little girl who doesn’t know how to tell time yet.

So.

We’ve bought a Good Nite Lite, which has not only saved us, but delights her every time it goes from a moon to a sun, indicating that she may Now Wake Up.  “Look, Papa.  Look, Mama!  It’s yellow now!  I can get up!”

Here’s how it works.  It’s a 6” diameter, plug-in night light, which can be programmed for go-to-bed and wake-up times.  It’s a dim blue moon all night long, and it changes to a bright yellow sun at wake-up time.

Since little L. has been used to a dark room all this time (and we’d like to keep it that way), we’ve set the moon to come on one minute before the sun, and we’ve explained that the moon is waking her up to get ready for the sun.

She loves it…and we do, too.

Just thought I’d share, for those of you hankering for a little more sleep on Saturday mornings.

Have a lovely weekend!
