Displays of the Season
So much to tell you.
On Friday, Liliana and I went to the Macy’s annual Christmas display–“A Day in the Life of an Elf,” where she was beside herself that she couldn’t walk into the exhibits. She got her first glimpse at Santa. Her take on him? “Scary, Mama!”
Then a stroll around Gaviidae Commons in Minneapolis, where she pointed out all the decorations. “Ooh, Mama, look at that! So pretty!”
Then to the Observation Deck on the 30th floor of the W Hotel. “We are so high, Mama!”
We met up with Papa mid-afternoon (who had a meeting on Friday morning) and walked to the OM for Indian-Pakistani food. Unbelievably good.
Then we were off to the Target Holidazzle parade–full of lighted storybook and fairy tale characters and displays, not all of which Liliana knows. But wave she did. And announce the next float to everyone around us. “Here’s the BIGGEST ONE EVER!” Very funny. To us only, I’m sure.
Yesterday, we were without the little one, so we hit up Walker Art Center’s 20.21 restaurant for lunch and their annual British Television Advertising Awards. Some were hilarious. Others were intensely serious. A sampling? See the grim commercial for anti-binge drinking below.
In the evening, we had a light dinner at Cosmos and hit up The Pines and Mason Jennings at First Avenue.
All in all, a relaxing and fun weekend, just with the fam.
And not one gift (or personal) retail purchase. That’s the best part. We’ve tried to purchase “experiences” instead. I’m not sure she will appreciate this later on (in life)…we can only hope.
