Regina Spektor’s New Album & Merwin Poem

Last week, NPR’s First Listen featured one of my favorite artist’s new albums–Far.  You can listen to the whole album here.  There’s just something about Regina Spektor’s music that sets my whole spirit alight.  Thanks, Clare and Clara, for both sending me links!

Here’s Regina’s song “Laughing With.”  After you’ve danced a little, scroll down for my new favorite poem.  My mother sent it to me two days ago, knowing I’d love it.  I do, I do!

And here’s that lovely poem I was telling you about, before we all got wrapped up in Regina…

Why Some People Do Not Read Poetry

Because they already know that it means
stopping and without stopping they know that
beyond stopping it will mean listening
listening without hearing and maybe
then hearing without hearing and what would
they hear then what good would it be to them
like some small animal crossing the road
suddenly there but not seeming to move
at night and they are late and may be on
the wrong road over the mountain with all
the others asleep and not hitting it
that time as though forgetting it again

–W.S. Merwin

That deliciousness almost needs a post all to itself.

Have a fab weekend.

The quote I live by

Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.
