Recipes for Eve
To the rescue! For those of you who are reading Eve with your book clubs, I offer up another resource. Recipes from the Middle East!
Now you can nosh and gab all in one night, and people, what could be better than that?
You can find a list of culinary ideas in my all-new Recipes for Book Clubs, if you’re interested. Since I’m not allowed to reprint an entire cookbook for you, I give suggestions and recipe titles only (with the exception of the one recipe I did get permission for). There are a number of cooking websites online that you might peruse to get more recipes:
Think Middle East, and you most certainly will get it right: hummus (chickpeas), beans, roasted and stewed meats, grains, fruits, nuts, dates, flat breads, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, zucchini, onions, herbs, spices, wine. [If you desire a real cookbook, check out Faye Levy’s Feast from the Mideast: 250 Sun-Drenched Dishes From the Lands of the Bible.]
You got it! Now you’ll be able to empathize with Aya as she spends most of her days cooking and gathering dung for her fire, except that you have it much easier with a microwave, refrigerator, stove, and oven. Count your blessings for that.
