Oxbow Park & Grandma Lien
Well, Gamma has finally arrived, and Liliana demands her utmost attention.
“Watch,” says Liliana, then dances interminably.
“Come,” says Liliana, then leads Gamma who knows where.
She has one more adoring adult to give her love–as though she needs more!
Today, we went to Oxbow Park, a lovely nature reserve not far from us, with a small zoo attached. It’s small and peaceful, perfect for small children–and ahem, how do I say this?–weary adults who can only take in so much in at a time.
“Hello, owl!”; “Hello, bear!”; “Hello, eagle!”; Hello, river otter!” On and on. Climbing up the fence, arcing out over it, to see better.
We ate lunch in the shaded picnic area, then went for a short jaunt to the bridge overlooking the muddy river. Liliana asked if she could swim in it. I told her it was too deep, but someday we’d take her river tubing.
This afternoon she has swim lessons.
An all-around lovely day to spend with Gamma.
