You’re familiar with The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, right?  The caterpillar emerges from an egg, then proceeds to eat his way through various, delicious foods (including a hot dog and piece of cake!).  He makes a “cocoon” (really, a chrysalis…you wonder how the editor missed that one!), then emerges days later a fabulous butterfly!

Well, it’s one thing to read about it.  Quite another to observe all the stages.

My mom sent Liliana a Painted Lady Butterfly kit, so she could watch the whole process.  Without further ado, I give you the photos–in sequence.  Fascinating.
