Ooh, glad it’s useful. I’m just finishing up Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art, which you might enjoy, too, Kel. Look it up! xo

I think that people stay at their horrible jobs because they like to eat food. They enjoy having a roof over their head. Baby jessica don’t have health insurance and the free clinic just lost federal funding. Mama Jane would love to rush her to the ER but can’t because if she does her credit will be so screwed up she will never be able to find another place to live when she moves out of section 8 housing. So people swallow their pride and dignity while the banking and finance industry takes a ride on the backs of the middle and working class. I think that most of these people would be more likely to pick up an automatic rifle and start killing if they carried out the inequality of the last 11 years out to it’s logical extension. Love your words elissa. Make me think.

Of course we can never generalize about people, but I think you have a point. At least in my experience. It’s hard to decide that you’re not doing well in a certain job, locale, relationship, etc. and then make plans to change that. Really hard. You might lose everything…as you know it. And change, in and of itself, is hard. And if one is unable to do that, then one will continue down the spiral of discouragement, depression, and hopelessness, where there’s even less of a chance for him or her to escape. It’s a vicious cycle. And it makes my heart hurt when I think about it.

I think about all of this every time I encounter someone asking for money, and then I decide that I can’t help what they do with the money. I can only judge my heart in giving. Hmmm…tough issues here. Thanks, Louie, for those comments!
