Mother’s Plunge: Retreat and Renewal

Okay, here’s an opportunity for all you exhausted and depleted mothers out there (isn’t that all of us?).  I’m disappointed I can’t take advantage of it, but I thought I should tell you about it, in case you can.

Karen Maezen Miller is holding a one-day Mother’s Retreat in Sierra Madre, California.  Even though she’s calling it a mother’s retreat, she says it’s for everyone–fathers, men, single women included.

I’ll be jealous of any of you who can make it.

Look what it entails: “Before you lose yourself in the crosscurrents of a crazy summer, take one day, just one day, all for yourself.  Join me at the first Mother’s Summer Plunge on Saturday, June 20, 9 am-3:30 pm.  Personal encouragement, fresh insight, spiritual refreshment, easy laughter, beginning meditation, gentle yoga, mountain walks and a whole new view all offered in the quaint haven of my own historic hillside hometown of Sierra Madre, the mother mountain.”

And if you’ve been paying attention to this blog at all, you’ll know that Karen’s book Momma Zen: Walking the Crooked Path of Motherhood was THE BOOK that made me realize I could release my fears to become a parent.  And like her retreat, the book is not only for mothers.  The thoughts and practices in it could be applied to life in general.

So, if you’re nearby, or if you have the funds and the time, go!  And please remember everything, so you can tell me about it.  I’m already waiting for her next retreat!
