You Have To Be Careful

I’m having problems with my blog software, so there may be some absences or technical difficulties until next week, while I take this week to solve them.  You’ll have to endure, as will I.

In the meantime, I like this poem by Naomi Shihab Nye.

You Have To Be Careful

You have to be careful telling things.
Some ears are tunnels.
Your words will go in and get lost in the dark.
Some ears are flat pans like the miners used
looking for gold.
What you say will be washed out with the stones.

You look a long time till you find the right ears.
Till then, there are birds and lamps to be spoken to,
a patient cloth rubbing shine in circles,
and the slow, gradually growing possibility
that when you find such ears,
they already know.

Listen to a temporary streaming of Ray LaMontagne’s entire new album “God Willin’ and The Creek Don’t Rise” at NPR.  Check it out.

Rest assured, I’ll keep in touch as long as I am able, and in the meantime, I’ll try to work things out on this end.

Happiest of Tuesdays to you!
